A 28-year-old man from Punjab's Kapurthala district was shot dead in the US while he was out delivering pizza,

According to information provided by his family, the victim, Gurdeep Singh, had gone to the US around 13 years ago after taking a loan, hoping to earn a livelihood and build a better future for himself and his family.

An unidentified armed person shot Gurdeep in the Richmond Street area of New York City while he was delivering pizza the previous night during a robbery attempt.

Gurdeep's father, Pyara Lal, became emotional while recalling his son's struggles. He said Gurdeep had taken a heavy loan before going abroad with hopes of securing a brighter future for himself and his family. He added that after reaching the US, Gurdeep faced several difficulties for a long time and had been working day and night to give his family a better life.

News of Gurdeep's death triggered grief in Jabbowal village. His family members are devastated by the loss.

The family has appealed to the Punjab and Indian governments to make the necessary arrangements to bring Gurdeep's body back to India as soon as possible. They have also urged the US government to take all possible steps to contact the relevant authorities, arrest those responsible for the killing and ensure they receive strict punishment.

Gurdeep was unmarried. His father and brother work as DJs to support the family.
