In a post on X, the the Russian Embassy in Iran wrote, “On August 25, President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President Masoud Pezeshkian, during which Putin informed about the main results of the Russian-American summit in Anchorage."

“A number of key issues of the bilateral agenda were discussed," the embassy further wrote.

Further, the two leaders also agreed to boost their bilateral ties and agreed to hold a bilateral meeting at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in China.

Iranian state media said that the Islamic Republic will hold talks with the European trio in Geneva on Tuesday.

The Iranian presidency said Pezeshkian had thanked Putin for supporting Tehran’s “right to enrichment" and said Iran was “not seeking, and will never seek to build nuclear weapons", AFP report mentioned.

The two nations have deepened their political, military, and economic ties during Russia’s war in Ukraine.
