‘Reminded Me Of 9/11’: Eyewitness Shares Video Of New York City Shooting Scene, Recalls Horror

Four people were killed in a shooting near a corporate building in New York City on Monday evening. Eyewitness has shared a video from the shooting scene, showing horror unfolding.

Four people, including a New York Police Department official, were killed in a shooting inside a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper on Monday evening (local time), sending shockwaves in the entire city. A woman who witnessed the horror at the scene said that it reminded her of the 9/11 attacks.

The gunman, identified as Shane Tamura, 27, was gunned down by the cops soon after the shooting, according to local media reports.

The incident took place as Tamura opened fire in a corporate building housing NFL headquarters and offices of several major financial firms, such as hedge fund giant Blackstone. Several people were injured in the incident.

Eyewitness Account

Kathleen Benanti, an eyewitness, shared a video of the incident on Facebook and informed people about the real-time situation outside her building.

“There is an active shooter outside or near my building (park ave between 53rd & 54th). Park Avenue is a sea of cop cars, fire engines, and ambulances. We’re being told to shelter in place and stay away from the windows. I am safe but shaken," she wrote on Facebook, sharing two videos on her timeline showing visuals from the scene.

She later told NBC that the entire sequence of events reminded her of the horrific attacks on the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, also known as the 9/11 attacks.

“I had a bit of a ptsd response that came out of the blue. I lived through 9/11, and all the sights/sounds reminded me of that day. I’m ok now," she told the outlet in a message.

Describing the horror, she said, “Some people came running back inside, saying people were shouting on the street that there was an active shooter."

Benanti said that the safety director issued the alert to shelter in place and stay away from the windows.
