Veteran rocker Neil Young is giving the people of Greenland free access to his entire music catalogue. The musician announced the offer on his blog on Tuesday, saying it is intended to provide comfort amid tensions affecting the Danish territory, whose future has recently been a point of dispute between the United States and NATO.

“I hope my music and music films will ease some of the unwarranted stress and threats you are experiencing from our unpopular and hopefully temporary government," Young wrote. “It is my sincere wish for you to be able to enjoy all of my music in your beautiful Greenland home, in its highest quality."

The offer is valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal, and is available to those with a Greenland-based cellphone.

Young called the gesture as “an offer of Peace and Love." His manager confirmed to The Associated Press that the message was genuine.

The move contrasts sharply with Young’s decision to withdraw his catalogue from Amazon Music, a protest against its owner, Jeff Bezos, who has publicly supported U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Amazon is owned by Jeff Bezos, a billionaire backer of the president," Young said last week. “The president’s international policies and his support of ICE make it impossible for me to ignore his actions. If you feel as I do, I strongly recommend that you do not use Amazon."

Young has also previously clashed with Spotify, temporarily removing his music in protest of controversial podcast content. His music later returned, and it remains available on Apple Music.

The musician, known for hits such as Rockin’ in the Free World and Heart of Gold, said the Greenland offer reflects his wish to share music directly with fans while taking a stand against corporate platforms and policies he disagrees with.
