Same old, tired playbook: Kamala Harris claps back after Trump's racial attack

Kamala Harris, the US Vice President and Democratic nominee for the presidential election, in her first high-stakes interview on Thursday after beginning the campaign, dismissed rival candidate Donald Trump’s comments about her racial identity. Replying to CNN’s Dana Bash's question about Trump's remarks that Harris has “turned Black” for political purposes, she said, “Same old tired playbook”.

“Next question, please,” Harris asked the journalist without elaborating further on Trump's comments.

Last month, the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, falsely claimed that Kamala Harris, who has "Indian heritage," has “happened to turn Black” when he talked about Republicans on Capitol Hill who have characterized Harris as a “DEI hire".

“She was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage. I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. So I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?” the former president had said.
