Samsung could bank on OpenAI to add more smartness and AI to its TVs
Samsung is reportedly looking to integrate ChatGPT features into its Smart TV lineup. According to a report by Tech Radar, referencing a Korean publication, the South Korean tech giant could join hands with OpenAI to develop an AI-powered TV. This collaboration aims to help Samsung maintain its dominant position in the TV market, where it has been the leader for the past 19 years.
As per the report, ChatGPT might help Samsung provide real-time audio and subtitle translations, as well as allow customers to request personalised healthcare advice. Besides controlling TV settings, users may be able to instruct OpenAI's chatbot to record a program or find something on a streaming service.
As you might know, Samsung smart TVs currently run on TizenOS and offer a variety of AI features including AI upscaling, AI Sound and the recently introduced AI Vision, which can do live translation and ‘see’ what dish is on the screen, find the recipe and share a link to the Samsung food app.
This news comes after Google’s move to integrate Gemini AI into its Google TV operating system, which will allow you to talk to your TV without the need for a remote.
The next-gen Google TV with Gemini AI features is set to arrive in the global market by the end of 2025, therefore, Samsung is also expected to launch its ChatGPT-integrated Smart TV during a similar timeframe.

The company is said to unveil its much-awaited Galaxy S25 series including the S25, S25 Plus and the S25 Ultra. These are said to come with Android 15-based One UI 7.0 version.
