Samsung announced the One UI 7 update with the Galaxy S25 series last month and we are still for the Android 15 update to roll out for other devices.

The older Galaxy phones will be limited to some features only
The One UI 7 update that Samsung users have been eagerly waiting for brings several new features. The tech giant debuted One UI 7 with the Galaxy S25 series, and now reports claim that the older models, such as the Galaxy S24 and S23, will not get the update. In a recent interview, Samsung’s software chief, Sally, revealed some interesting tidbits about the One UI 7 feature. She said that the Korean tech giant has spent two to three years planning, designing, and developing One UI 7.0.
She went on to say that One UI 7.0 features, particularly those powered by AI, need modern hardware to run. This hints that not all One UI 7.0 features will be available to existing, older Galaxy phones and tablets.
Among these, one of the features is Now Brief. It shows relevant information based on the time of the day and helps users to keep up with their schedule. However, Samsung’s Personal Data Engine, which powers Now Brief, requires advanced chips with a powerful NPU because it’s not a cloud-based functionality.
The Circle to Search feature, on the other hand, can run on older devices as they require mostly cloud resources that are less demanding on device performance and are budget-friendly too.
Samsung’s software chief, Sally, said, “This feature requires powerful processing to deliver an optimal experience. In contrast, features like Circle to Search can run on older devices, as they rely more on cloud-based services that are less demanding on device performance. For more affordable devices, we continue to review user needs and provide cloud-based AI features that can be used across devices, without requiring advanced hardware."
Meanwhile, the tech giant known for its quicker software rollouts is taking its time perfecting the UI 7.0 update before releasing it to the general public. These delays have raised significant questions among Samsung Galaxy users who are urging the brand to release the update soon. While there is currently no official release date, Samsung’s support executive has revealed why One UI 7.0 is delayed.
On the company’s website, Sally revealed that the brand wanted to make a big leap with One UI 7. He said, “For One UI 7, we took a slightly different approach. Usually, UI updates are done every year. However, for this version, we wanted to make a big breakthrough, which required careful planning since 2-3 years before the project started. We wanted to create something more impactful, and this longer preparation time allowed us to make significant improvements."
