Samsung's TriFold model is big but is it strong against the bend test?

Samsung launched its first tri-foldable device in the Galaxy series recently and the overall market response has been quite good. Granted, it hasn’t been released in a lot of countries but that probably has to do with its premium price tag.

And now, the company’s product has been put through the dreaded bend test to see how durable the new form factor is and whether it is as strong and reliable as the regular foldables. Samsung saw its Galaxy Z Fold 7 pass these tests with flying colours earlier this year, can the tri-fold match or even better that credibility?

Samsung Tri-Fold Bend Test: Does It Win Or Fail?

The short answer is, the Galaxy Z TriFold struggles to handle the rough resistance of the bend tests. The JerryRigEverything tests are extreme but showed the lack of durability offered by premium devices over the years. And the bend test has been tough to win for the best in the business. So how does the TriFold fare, quite badly to be honest.

The YouTuber manages to tear it up with the first bending manoeuvre which doesn’t augur well for the durability claims from Samsung. Not only does the TriFold break into pieces while bending it the opposite side, the screen also goes dark, which means the panel has lost its bearing with the device.

This is quite different from how the company’s Fold 7 model performed with these durability tests. To be fair, this is a first-gen tri-foldable from Samsung, and we know how that worked out for the brand with its regular foldable many years back.

The tests are also designed in a way to see its durability in unconventional ways, which we are pretty sure no buyer would even attempt to replicate after spending big on a product like this.

Samsung does make big claims about the strength of the foldable glass, which again falters during the tests, and tells you how the flexible panel needs more work to make it as strong as the regular ones. The Galaxy Z TriFold has been available in regions like South Korea, Dubai and a few more, but it has skipped the US market, India and Europe so far, which could change in the near future.
