Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th US President on January 20. His nominees will appear for back-to-back meetings today at Capitol Hill.

The Donald Trump administration is set to face several Senate committees on Capitol Hill on Thursday as hearings and business meetings are scheduled to take place to review and vote on the President’s nominees for key administrative roles.

The evening schedule is packed as the Senate pushes to confirm the processes for the new administration’s picks.

At 7:30 pm, the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee is set to hold a business meeting to consider the nomination of Douglas Collins for Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Shortly after, at 7:45 pm, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will review the nomination of Lee Zeldin for Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

At 8 pm, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will meet to discuss two nominations – Douglas Burgum for Secretary of the Interior and Christopher Wright for Secretary of Energy.

Two hearings are scheduled for 8:30 pm – the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee will consider the nomination of Brooke Rollins for Secretary of Agriculture, and the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee will review Eric Turner for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The back-to-back meetings come three days into the new Trump administration which was sworn in on January 20, 2025.
