Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Indian equity markets extended their rally for a fourth consecutive session on Tuesday, with the benchmark indices closing at a two-month high. The Nifty reclaimed the 23,800 mark, gaining nearly 5% over the past four sessions to post its biggest four-day advance in seven months.
The Sensex surged 1,225 points, or around 1.6%, to close at 76,918, while the Nifty gained 370 points to settle at 23,811. The broader market also witnessed strong gains, with the Nifty Bank rising 538 points to 55,540 and the Nifty Midcap index advancing 613 points to 58,596.
Buying was broad-based, with HDFC Bank and FMCG stocks emerging among the key drivers of the rally. The Nifty FMCG index gained 3% after a strong quarterly performance from Marico. Marico shares surged 9% after the company reported strong Q2 results and raised its FY27 guidance.
Reliance Industries also recovered to close higher, adding nearly ₹2 lakh crore to its market capitalisation over the past two sessions.
Among individual stocks, capital market shares saw strong buying interest, with BSE emerging as the top Nifty gainer, rising 5%. MCX shares closed 8% higher ahead of the company's Q2 results, while Lodha Developers gained 6% despite a cautious outlook.
Power Grid was among the notable laggards, falling over 3% after the company revised its FY27 capitalisation guidance lower. State Bank of India declined 2% as lower operating profit weighed on sentiment, despite healthy underlying business metrics.
Solar Industries India closed off its day's highs, despite reporting Q2 earnings ahead of estimates, with a sequential decline in its order book weighing on the stock. Capital goods stocks also ended lower in an otherwise strong market session, with GE Vernova T&D India emerging as the top sectoral laggard
