The Sensex gained 899 points to close at 76,348, while the Nifty advanced 283 points to settle at 23,191, reaching its highest level since February 13. The Nifty Bank rose 360 points to end at 50,063.

US benchmarks took a pause on Thursday, ending below the flat line after a three-day rally amidst lingering trade uncertainties. The Dow Jones ended little changed but fell 300 points from the highs, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq shed 0.2% and 0.3% respectively.
