Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: Uncertainties around the US-Iran war are likely to continue to weigh on the Nifty and stocks exposed to the Middle East, as a brief recovery during the Sensex weekly expiry on Thursday may get sold into after the overnight sell-off on Wall Street.
The bigger worry is oil prices, with Brent having made an intraday high above $86, while the US crude closed above $81 per barrel after surging 8.5% last night.
The Nifty came off around 90 points from the highs after it became clear that Iran had not reached out to the US for any talks or abandoned its nuclear programme. The index managed a close above 24,750, but a gap down may negate those levels.
24,500 continues to hold the key for the index, while for the Nifty Bank, 60,000 remains distant, as the index will fight to first hold 59,000 and then 58,500 on the downside. Defence stocks will remain in the spotlight, as will oil sensitivities.
