Sensex Today | Stock Market LIVE Updates: After what turned out to be a disappointing session for the bulls, where the Nifty fell short of hitting a record high, the final trading session of this holiday-shortened week beckons with the global cues easing slightly.

The Nifty futures promised a 400-point uptick at the start of trading on Thursday, but that was not to be, and the index could not sustain the 220-point advance either, even falling into negative territory towards the close of what was the weekly expiry of the BSE contracts.

Earnings reactions today will come from Colgate-Palmolive, while Dr. Reddy's, SBI Cards, Coforge, Latent View, ABSL AMC, are some stocks reporting results. Today, 26,000 will be the first level on the upside to watch for the Nifty, followed by Thursday's high of 26,100. IT stocks continue to surge, and they may continue to lend support to the index as some headwinds abate.

Continue to keep an eye on oil sensitivities as Brent is back near $66 a barrel and defence stocks after the ₹79,000 crore approval granted by the Defence Acquisition Council on Thursday. 58,000 is now an important level on the downside for the Nifty Bank.
