Jane Lee, the owner of Sumo Salad located in Holland Village, Singapore, passed away on July 19. Her death came just one day after she posted on Facebook about a stressful experience with one of her employees. The Singapore Police Force is treating the case as an “unnatural death" and has launched an investigation. The exact cause of her death has not yet been confirmed.

On July 18, Jane wrote two emotional Facebook posts where she expressed frustration and disappointment. She claimed that an Indian employee, Sran Kiranjeet Kaur, had staged a fake accident in order to make a false injury claim and get compensation. According to Jane, the woman had only two days left in her work contract when the incident happened.

Jane said that the worker claimed she slipped and fell on an escalator while disposing of trash. However, Jane believed the fall was not real. She said the worker was supposed to leave work early that day but stayed back on purpose, suggesting it was part of a plan to fake the injury.

“I never imagined someone could go to such lengths and be so dishonest just for money," Jane wrote in one of her posts. Her words reflected how deeply the situation had affected her.

The next day, news of Jane’s sudden death shocked many people in Singapore’s business community and beyond. The police are still trying to determine what exactly happened and if her death is connected in any way to the stress she described online.

This tragic event has raised concerns about workplace conflicts, mental health, and the pressures small business owners face, especially when dealing with legal and staffing issues.

The investigation is ongoing.
