Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin arrived in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur on Wednesday to extend support to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ and stated that the Mahagathbandhan will win the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
Addressing a gathering in Muzaffarpur in his mother tongue Tamil, Stalin said Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav came together to “save democracy."
“This friendship will help you win the Bihar elections. The BJP is going to lose. Your victory is evident even before the elections. The BJP is trying to stop you from winning," he said.
The DMK chief also accused the Election Commission of India of acting like a “remote-controlled puppet." “Over 65 lakh voters have been removed from the Bihar vote list. This is the murder of democracy," he said.
Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) founder Mukesh Sahani, and CPI (ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya were also present at the rally.
Soon after joining ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, Stalin in a post on X wrote, “Touchdown Bihar…the land of respected Lalu Prasad Ji greets me with fire in its eyes, the soil heavy with every stolen vote. Joined by my brothers Rahul Gandhi Jee, Tejashwi Yadav and sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra as the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ turns people’s pain into unstoppable strength." Earlier in the day, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav rode motorcycles as they made their way through the streets of Muzaffarpur district during the ongoing ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’.
The 1,300-km yatra was launched on August 17 from Sasaram and will conclude with a rally in Patna on September 1.
The BJP has attacked Stalin over his Bihar visit and questioned his participation in “Vote Adhikar Yatra."
Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan said, “…I don’t know which language he will speak in Bihar. Even if he speaks English, it will reflect his colonial mindset. Our prime minister is erasing the colonial mindset, and we are promoting our Indian culture and tradition. So, if he chooses to speak in English there, the local people will still translate it into Hindi. What is the use of his participation in the rally in Bihar?"
BJP Leader CR Kesavan said the people of Bihar remember how senior DMK leaders have earlier insulted them.
“Will MK Stalin, who is joining Rahul Gandhi on his ‘Samvidhan Badnaam Yatra,’ wish the people of Bihar on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi? Because MK Stalin, in the past, has always avoided Tamil people wishing on Hindu festivals," he added.
