Militants struck the Frontier Corps (FC) Headquarters on Saddar Main Road in Peshawar on Monday, triggering two powerful explosions at the main gate, sources in the police told CNN-News18. Following the blasts, several gunmen managed to breach the compound, sparking a fierce and ongoing exchange of fire with security forces.

Preliminary reports suggest that two suicide attackers carried out the initial detonation, blowing up the main gate of the FC headquarters. Heavy gunfire can still be heard from within the premises as security forces have cordoned off the surrounding area, including Saddar, to prevent further escalation. Reinforcements have been rushed in, with paramilitary units surrounding the compound to contain the threat. The assailants’ objective remains unclear, but the high-intensity explosions and the breach suggest a well-planned operation.

Officials have confirmed that at least two explosions were heard near the headquarters, but they have not yet released information on casualties. For now, the situation remains fluid, and more updates are expected as clearance operations proceed inside the facility.

The attack comes amid a renewed wave of militant activity in Pakistan. Just days earlier, on November 11, a suicide bomber targeted a police vehicle outside the district court in Islamabad, killing 12 people and injuring 27. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), or one of its factions, claimed the attack, demanding the implementation of Islamic law — a demand that has heightened fears about increasing insurgent boldness.
