Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday moved a congratulatory motions in the state assembly, a day after India on Sunday sealed an unprecedented third Champions Trophy triumph against New Zealand.

Fadnavis also praised the leadership of Indian Captain Rohit Sharma, and said those who criticised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have got an answer for their criticism.

The Chief Minister further said both again proved that “performance is temporary and class is permanent".

In the same motion, Fadnavis also praised the spin attack of the Indian Cricket team.

The Lower House of the Maharashtra Assembly passed the congratulatory motion.

India won with an unblemished record as Rohit Sharma combined his inherent freedom with steely resolve to inspire his side to a four-wicket win in a closely-fought final against New Zealand.

Their spinners yet again dictating the terms, India won the trophy without losing a match, reflecting their dominance in the tournament which they won back in 2002 and 2013.

No other team has won the event thrice.
