Steve Bridges, a TikTok comedian loved by millions for his humorous takes on everyday life, has died at the age of 41. His wife, Chelsey Bridges, informed about the same in an emotional video posted on his Instagram account on Friday, saying he passed away “peacefully in his sleep" on 15 October.

According to Peoria Police in Illinois, cited by the NY Post, officers responded to a call reporting a natural death at a private home on Wednesday.

In her message to fans, Chelsey said the man people saw online was only one side of him. “Who you saw online was just the characters that he created," she said tearfully. “He was the most attentive father, and the best husband… the greatest, sweetest man." She thanked followers for supporting her husband’s dream, adding, “Thanks to you, internet, he’s been able to live his dream of making people laugh. I am so thankful that he got to do that."

Bridges built a massive following of over two million fans across TikTok and Instagram through his point-of-view comedy sketches. His videos playfully exaggerated familiar figures — from awkward boyfriends and solar panel salesmen to energetic kids at public pools. Chelsey often appeared alongside him in these skits, making the couple a familiar and loved presence online.

Behind the camera, Bridges was known as a devoted family man. The couple had been married for 16 years and shared three children — a 14-year-old daughter and 10-year-old twin boys.

Chelsey revealed that her husband had recently focused on health and fitness after losing several family members at a young age. His grandmother died in her sleep at 52, while both his father and grandfather passed away in their 40s.

Despite the sudden loss, Chelsey said she wanted to honour Steve’s openness with his fans. “I’m not going to tell my children that they can’t grieve online," she said. “I will probably grieve online too. This is life now. Please never take it for granted and try to live your dreams every day. Love your family and take care of yourself."

Tributes have since poured in from friends and fans. Filmmaker Eric Mathis, a close friend, remembered Bridges as “an incredible talent beloved by millions." He added, “He was so kind, so genuine, so passionate about his art."

Bridges’ humour, warmth, and joy continue to live on through the laughter he shared with people around the world.
