Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday again reiterated his “time will answer everything" claim after he met Congress leader Sonia Gandhi at her residence in New Delhi.
“What I discussed inside and with whom, there is no need for me to disclose that. I’ve met the top leaders of my party and I have discussed whatever is necessary," Shivakumar said, adding, “If I have come here, then I will have to discuss everything. I’ve done that. I won’t speak about it in public."
“I’ve not come here to soak in the sun, I’m here for political reasons and whatever is necessary, I’ve discussed that. Time will answer everything," he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Shivakumar called for all party leaders to stop making public statements regarding power sharing, stating such comments harm the party.
He further cited party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s advice that “it is good if everyone keeps their mouths shut" and urged everyone to follow it. “Mallikarjun Kharge saheb has said that it is good if everyone keeps their mouths shut. We should follow that," said Shivakumar.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday expressed displeasure about repeated media queries on the leadership change issue in the state and asserted that he and his deputy should abide by the Congress high command’s decision on the matter.
The issue regarding the power tussle over the position of the Chief Minister has once again come to the fore, after Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Yathindra last week insisted that his father will complete his five-year-term.
The leadership tussle intensified in November last year after it was speculated that their might be a leadership change as the Congress government in the state completed the halfway mark of its five-year term.
The speculation has been fuelled by the reported “power-sharing" arrangement between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar at the time of the government formation in 2023.
