The Pakistan Mili Muslim League (MML), widely regarded as the political front of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), has delayed its annual workers’ convention that was scheduled to be held on Sunday, November 2, at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore.
Sources within the Lashkar told CNN-News18 that the decision to defer the large-scale gathering was taken citing “external threats" to the organisation’s top leadership. The development comes amid heightened regional tensions and Indian military exercise codenamed ‘Trishul’, which some within the outfit believe could be linked to the postponement.
Responding to questions on whether the MML convention was delayed due to the Trishul exercises, an insider said, “That may be one of the reasons for the postponement."
The announcement was made informally through a series of corner meetings by senior Lashkar leaders, who revealed that the decision had been approved by the group’s chief, Hafiz Saeed. Saeed was expected to personally attend and address the Lahore convention.
No new date has been announced for the event yet.
On Friday, Pakistan issued a second Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) within just five days, a move that intelligence sources describe as a signal of “panic and precaution" triggered by India’s ongoing Tri-Services Exercise Trishul 2025. The latest NOTAM, effective from November 1 to November 30, closes large portions of Pakistan’s airspace, particularly over its southern and coastal regions.
India’s neighbour also issued a Nav-Area warning from November 2-5 during which it will conduct live weapon firing in the Arabian Sea.
India’s Exercise Trishul 2025 — a high-intensity joint operation involving the Army, Navy, and Air Force — is currently underway across multiple strategic theatres, including the western front and the Arabian Sea. The large-scale drills simulate integrated warfare, rapid mobilisation, and maritime dominance operations. The exercise, while routine in nature, has reportedly prompted Pakistan’s heightened state of alert, reflecting the deep-seated mistrust that continues to define the subcontinental security environment.
