Donald Trump signed a disaster declaration for Kerr County, Texas, due to heavy rains and flooding. The death toll reached 67, including 21 children.

Donald Trump on Sunday signed a major disaster declaration for relief for Kerr County in Texas, as the region deals with heavy rains and extreme flooding that have killed around 67 people. The declaration ensures federal resources are made available. As per the data shared by Reuters, the death toll in Kerr County had reached 59, including the 21 children.
After the declaration was signed, the Federal Emergency Management Agency was activated on Sunday and is deploying resources to first responders in Texas.
Donald Trump shared a post on Truth Social and stated, “I just signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County, Texas, to ensure that our Brave First Responders immediately have the resources they need. These families are enduring an unimaginable tragedy, with many lives lost, and many still missing. The Trump Administration continues to work closely with State and Local Leaders."
He further added, “Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem was on the ground yesterday with Governor Greg Abbott, who is working hard to help the people of his Great State. Our incredible U.S. Coast Guard, together with State First Responders, have saved more than 850 lives. GOD BLESS THE FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS TEXAS!"
As per the officials, on Saturday more than 850 people have been rescued across Kerr County, which saw some of the worst flooding, by the Coast Guard and at least 1,000 first responders from Texas state agencies. The Department of Homeland Security said in a statement that the United States Coast Guard helicopters and planes are helping the search and rescue efforts.
Larry Leitha, the Kerr County Sheriff in Texas Hill Country said 11 girls and a counselor remained missing from a summer camp near the Guadalupe River, which broke its banks after torrential rain fell in the central Texas area on Friday. She further added there were 18 adults and four children still pending identification in Kerr County. He did not say if those 22 individuals were included in the death count of 59.
