US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he did not believe either he or Elon Musk was responsible for Ukraine losing Starlink access, disrupting its military operations against Russia.
The reduction in satellite services interrupted communications with headquarters and slowed internet speeds. Reuters reported on Thursday that the White House had approved a reduction in Starshield services.
Speaking to reporters as he left the White House for Georgia, Trump said any restrictions on Ukraine’s access to Starshield had not been imposed by the United States.
SpaceX developed Starshield specifically for government and national security customers, particularly the US Department of Defense. It uses the Starlink satellite constellation as its backbone.
Trump also said he had a good relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
