Last week, Bloomberg News reported that India and the US had identified around 18,000 Indians who are in the US illegally.
US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi "will do what's right" when it came to taking back Indian immigrants who arrived in the US illegally. Trump's remarks came after he had a phone call with the Prime Minister, and discussed a host of issues.
Trump has pledged to crack down on illegal immigration by launching the largest deportation programme in the country's history. Last week, Bloomberg News reported that India and the US had identified around 18,000 Indians who are in the US illegally.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and emphasised a desire to "address concerns related to irregular migration".
