After hosting footballer Cristiano Ronaldo for a state dinner, US President Donald Trump shared an AI-generated video of himself playing football with the Portuguese star inside the White House, calling the athlete a “great guy".

The clip, posted on Donald Trump’s official Instagram account, shows the US President performing keep-ups, headers and brief dribbles alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in a digitally created version of the Oval Office. Donald Trump is seen spinning on his heels to intercept the ball before kicking it toward the camera, as Ronaldo passes it back and forth.

“Ronaldo is a GREAT GUY. Loved meeting him at the White House. Really smart, and cool!!! President DJT," he wrote in the caption.

The post quickly went viral as many users poked fun at the over-the-top nature of the video, with one commenting, “The way I see Trump bending to head the ball makes it more funny," while another wrote, “Haters will say it’s AI." A third user added: “Bro, I really thought this was a meme page. This is the president of the USA. Lol."

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Post After Meeting Donald Trump

Before Donald Trump shared the AI clip, Cristiano Ronaldo posted a series of photographs from his visit to the White House, where he and his partner Georgina Rodríguez met the US President and First Lady Melania Trump.

“Thank you Mr President for your invitation and for the warm welcome you and the First Lady gave me and my future wife. Each of us has something meaningful to give, and I stand ready to do my part as we inspire new generations to build a future defined by courage, responsibility and lasting peace," Cristiano Ronaldo wrote.

‘Barron Is A Big Fan’

During his remarks at the event, Donald Trump referenced the footballer, noting that his youngest son Barron Trump is an admirer of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

“Barron got to meet him. And I think he respects his father a little bit more now, just the fact that I introduced you," Donald Trump joked during the speech, adding, “So I just want to thank you both for being here. Thank you very much. Really an honour."
