After Washington imposed steep tariffs on Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged on Tuesday that US President Donald Trump was aiming at forcing the “collapse" of the Canadian economy to make it “easier" for the United States to annex the country.

Asked about Trump’s motivations for imposing tariffs on all Canadian goods, Trudeau said Trump “wants to see a collapse of the Canadian economy because that would make it easier to annex us." His remarks came as Trump has repeatedly threatened to make Canada the 51sts state of the US.
