Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said India is increasingly being seen as a trusted global partner amid geopolitical and economic turbulence, asserting that the country ranks “very high" in the world’s search for stable and reliable economies.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Vaishnaw said leaders across geographies view India as a dependable partner, co-developer and co-creator.
“In this world full of turbulence, everybody is looking for trusted partners, who have stable policies, who have a clear thought process. India definitely ranks very high," he said, adding that interactions at Davos reflected strong confidence in India’s economic direction.
Vaishnaw said India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a major point of discussion among global leaders and policymakers in Switzerland. He noted that the Indian delegation is present at all key meetings to explain how the country is blending modern technology with inclusive and fair growth.
The minister said discussions across forums have focused on India’s development trajectory, leadership in technology and emphasis on growth that benefits all sections of society.
He added that India’s presence at Davos 2026 is being strongly felt, with the delegation, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, engaging in wide-ranging conversations on economic reforms, infrastructure, digital transformation and manufacturing.
Separately, the US Department of State announced that India will participate in the inaugural Critical Minerals Ministerial to be held on February 4, aimed at strengthening global cooperation on critical mineral supply chains.
Vaishnaw represented India at the Davos summit, where discussions also highlighted the urgent need to address vulnerabilities in critical mineral supply chains amid rising global demand and geopolitical risks.
Senior US officials and private-sector representatives participated in the discussions, underscoring the growing role India is expected to play in building resilient, secure and diversified supply chains essential for economic growth, technological leadership and energy transition.
