Twin earthquakes of magnitude 7.6 and 5.5 struck near Misawa and Hachinohe, prompting a tsunami advisory from Japan Meteorological Agency. No injuries or damage reported yet.

Twin earthquakes struck off the Japanese coast on Monday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said. The first earthquake of magnitude 7.6 on the Richter Scale struck 84 km east-northeast of Misawa in Aomori Prefecture at 11.15 pm (local time), while the other one of magnitude 5.5 was reported off the Hachinohe coast.
Further, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has issued a tsunami advisory. There were no immediate reports of any injuries or damage to properties. Authorities are assessing the impact and monitoring for potential aftershocks in the affected region. More details are awaited.
