UK police on Monday launched a criminal investigation into the Glastonbury Festival performances by rap groups Bob Vylan and Kneecap following controversial on-stage remarks about Israel during their Saturday sets.
Officials confirmed that a senior detective has been appointed to examine whether any comments made by either artist could amount to a criminal offence.
In a statement, UK police said the investigation would be evidence-led and would carefully consider all relevant legislation, including laws related to hate crimes, BBC reported.
“This has been recorded as a public order incident at this time while our enquiries are at an early stage," the statement noted.
