The United States said that it is ordering its embassy staff to leave Saudi Arabia as Iran strikes the kingdom in retaliation for an attack by Washington and Israel.
The State Department issued a travel advisory on late Sunday and stated that it had “ordered non-emergency US government employees and US government employee family members to leave Saudi Arabia due to safety risks".
The State Department said it continued to warn Americans to “reconsider travel" to Saudi Arabia, though without cautioning against all trips to the kingdom, which has assiduously courted US businesses and politicians.
Last week, the US embassy in the Saudi capital Riyadh was hit by drones launched by the Iranian military, causing severe damage.
On Sunday, Saudi Arabia said two people were killed and 12 were wounded when a projectile landed in Al Kharj province. The two people killed were of Indian and Bangladeshi nationalities.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said earlier on Sunday that they targeted radar systems in locations including Saudi’s Al-Kharj.
