Axios had reported earlier in the day that there could be a potential meeting between the US and Iran later in the week, although there has been no official confirmation of the same. US President Donald Trump cut short his visit to the G7 summit in Canada and returned to Washington due to the Middle East Crisis. Just minutes after the Axios report, Iran declared that it has fired a new round of missiles on Israel, while its state TV said that the country has downed an Israeli drone near the Natanz nuclear facility. In news aside of the conflict, the Bank of Japan left interest rates unchanged and announced a reduction to its bond buying program from next year.
