US Stock Markets Live Updates: US stock futures edged lower as rising tensions in the Iran war unsettled markets and oil surged, while investors awaited key inflation data for clues on the Federal Reserve’s policy path.

US Stock Markets Live Updates: US stock futures slipped on Wednesday, giving up earlier gains as investors grew cautious amid fresh geopolitical tensions and ahead of a crucial inflation report that could shape expectations for the economy and Federal Reserve policy.

Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500, and Nasdaq 100 edged lower after Wall Street ended the previous session largely unchanged following a volatile day of trading.

Market sentiment has been weighed down by rising concerns over the knock-on effects of the Iran war, particularly after reports that three vessels came under fire in the Strait of Hormuz — a key global oil shipping route.

The developments pushed crude prices sharply higher, adding to volatility across financial markets. At the same time, US consumer prices rose 2.4% year-on-year (YoY) in February, in line with estimates of 2.4%, while core CPI increased 2.5% YoY, also matching expectations. On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3% in February, in line with estimates of 0.3%.
