Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted a packet of Melody toffees to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during their meeting in Rome, adding a light-hearted moment to the high-level diplomatic engagement between the two leaders.
Meloni later shared a short video clip of the exchange on X, showing PM Modi handing over the packet of the popular Indian confectionery brand. “Thank you for the gift,” she wrote in the post.
The gesture quickly drew attention online, with social media users reacting to the informal and friendly exchange between the two leaders.
PM Modi is in Italy for the final leg of his five-nation tour and is expected to hold detailed bilateral talks with Meloni on boosting cooperation in trade, defence, connectivity and strategic sectors. The two leaders also visited the iconic Colosseum ahead of formal discussions.
