A Delta Airlines plane heading to Atlanta was forced to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles after one of its engines caught fire mid-air. The incident, captured on video, shows flames coming from the aircraft’s left engine shortly after take-off.

The flight, Delta 446, had departed from Los Angeles Airport (LAX) on Friday when the crew noticed an issue with the left engine. The aircraft, a Boeing 767-400, circled back and landed safely at LAX without any reported injuries.

The dramatic video, which has now gone viral on social media, shows the plane climbing after take-off with visible flames shooting from one side. The aircraft is then seen safely touching down minutes later.

“Delta flight 446 returned to Los Angeles shortly after departure following an indication of an issue with the aircraft’s left engine", a Delta Airlines spokesperson told the BBC," the airline’s spokesperson told the BBC.
