A fire broke out backstage at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park on Saturday evening, sending a large plume of smoke over the World Showcase, near the France Pavilion. Visitors in or around the park shared videos and photos of the fire and smoke on social media.
Officials from Disney World told FOX 35 News the fire started behind the France Pavilion. Some guests were evacuated from the “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure" ride to a backstage area, but no injuries were reported.

The fire occurred behind the scenes of the France Pavilion at EPCOT’s World Showcase on Saturday afternoon. Social media posts showing the smoke started to appear around 7 pm, with officials confirming the fire was out by 7:20 pm. EPCOT was due to close at 9 pm that evening.
The fire was caused by a walk-in cooler backstage. While the fire produced a large amount of smoke, no one was injured. This incident took place during Spring Break and coincided with EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival, which runs until June 2.
Walt Disney World Resort, located about 20 miles southwest of Orlando, Florida, includes multiple theme parks, including EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
