Actor-politician Vijay on Friday ruled out the possibility of his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s alliance with the BJP and DMK in the Tamil Nadu assembly polls. He also announced that he would contest the election from Madurai East.

Addressing TVK’s second conference in Madurai, Vijay, fondly called “Thalapathy", said the ruling DMK is his party’s political enemy and the BJP is “policy enemy."

“A lion is always a lion. There will be so many jackals and other animals in a jungle, but there will be only one lion, and even if it is single, it will be the king of the jungle. The Lion is here to hunt," he said.

“There are rumours that TVK is joining hands with the BJP. We are not doing an alliance with the BJP. Our party is not against any religion. Our party is the people’s party. Tamil Nadu people will reject the BJP," he added.

Vijay called upon his supporters to vote for the party in the upcoming polls, saying the contest is between the DMK and TVK. “Not all politicians are intelligent and not all cinema stars are fools," he said.

“We are ready to face elections. The reason I entered politics is because of my gratitude to you all. You have been by my side for the last 30 years and treated me as your family. At this moment, I want to open my heart and say I enjoy people. I worship people and I respect people. My only role going forward is to serve the people. I will be with you and for you. This is not just a mere statement," he said.

The TVK chief also raised the issue of NEET and the arrest of Tamil Nadu fishermen by Sri Lankan authorities.

The maiden state conference of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam was held in Vikravandi in Villupuram district last year, serving as the launchpad for the aspiring chief minister’s political career.
