Terrorist groups are attempting to manipulate students in various educational institutions to further their objectives. A senior officer told News18, "They want the ban on them lifted and they want to implement the same operational model in India."

Several terrorist organisations in Bangladesh are pressuring the government to remove the ban imposed on them, according to intelligence sources.

These groups, which aim to establish an Islamic State and Caliphate globally, are active in Bangladesh and are also attempting to operate in India. They are now taking to the streets of Bangladesh, marching for the establishment of a Caliphate.

“The situation in Bangladesh is volatile, and they want to take full advantage of this," sources say.

Sources also reveal that these groups have become increasingly active in Bangladesh, particularly in universities. They are attempting to manipulate students in various educational institutions to further their objectives. A senior officer told News18, “They want the ban on them lifted and they want to implement the same operational model in India. They aim to radicalise students in educational institutions."

THE BANNED TERROR OUTFITS

The proscribed organisations in Bangladesh are:

After assuming power, the interim government lifted the ban on Islami Chatra Sibir (ICS). Although a ban remains in effect, Hizbut Tahrir (HT), Ansar al Islam, Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), and HuJI-inspired Hefajote Islam (HeI) are openly and actively propagating extremist agendas under the patronage of the government.

The activities of these terrorist groups include:

Demolition of more than 100 shrinesPersecution of religious and ethnic minoritiesOpen processions in favour of forming a so-called CaliphateEstablishing “Gazwa-e-Hind"Moral policingReleasing more than 200 convicted terrorists from jailUndermining and rendering ineffective counterterrorism capabilities

With support and collusion from the authorities, such open campaigns and activities by extremists would be nearly impossible, said sources.

Although Dhaka maintains that it has no intention of lifting the ban on these groups, experts suggest that the release of Jashimuddin Rahemani, a member of Ansarullah Bangla Team, sends a strong signal.
