Highlighting his cultural heritage, Indian-origin Kash Patel on Friday (local time) took the oath on the Bhagavad Gita as he was sworn in as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under the Trump administration.
Instead of the Bible, Patel was sworn in by Attorney General Pam Bondi with the Bhagavad Gita, the sacred Hindu scripture. “Place your hand on the Gita and raise your right hand," said Bondi while swearing in Patel.
“I, Kashyap Pramod Patel, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office which I am about to enter. So help me God," Patel said in his oath.
