A man was arrested on Monday after a car drove into a large crowd of Liverpool fans during the club’s Premier League title parade in the city centre. The incident occurred shortly after the team’s open-top bus passed through, with thousands of supporters lining the streets to celebrate.

The terrifying video of the incident has surfaced on the internet, capturing the exact moment when the car drove into a crowd of Liverpool fans on Monday.

The video posted on social media shows a car speeding down a crowded street, ploughing into fans.

Several people were hit by the car, which at one point seems to have swerved slightly to avoid the crowd. In the video, fans are screaming and attempting to escape as mayhem breaks out. After the collision, some people were seen lying on the road, while others hurried to help.

The car was soon surrounded by police officers. Before the police intervened, some fans were also trying to approach the driver. Later, a 53-year-old man was arrested on the spot.

"Emergency services are currently on the scene," police said in a statement. They said officers are investigating what caused the accident.

STARMER REACTS, EMERGENCY TEAMS RUSH TO THE SPOT

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the incident "appalling" and said he was being kept updated. He thanked the emergency teams for their quick response.

"The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected. I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident," Starmer wrote on social media.

Photos taken at the scene showed one fan being taken away on a stretcher and another fan who had been hurt walking with assistance from a police officer. A tent was set up close to the fire engines at the scene, along with a number of ambulances.
