Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified on Wednesday that India had not declared war against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, and that it was a “limited aggression" in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
Responding to the Opposition’s claims about why a ceasefire was announced, Shah said in Rajya Sabha, “We did not even declare a war (against Pakistan). What kind of ceasefire are you talking about? It was a limited aggression, an attack on terrorism and the use of our legitimate right to self-defence."
