What is SEPTA?

The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) manages regional rail, buses, trolleys, subways, and a high-speed transit line. It is one of the largest transit systems in the US, serving five counties in the Greater Philadelphia region while also connecting to transit systems in New Jersey and Delaware.

As of December 2024, SEPTA reported a monthly ridership of 698,655. The authority's fiscal year 2025 budget is $2.6 billion, with $1.74 billion allocated for operations and $924 million for capital projects.
