Trump Targets CNN Journalist Kaitlan Collins During White House Interaction
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday verbally attacked CNN journalist Kaitlan Collins during a White House briefing, saying she was “not telling the truth" and worked for a “dishonest organisation."
Trump said, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face. I have known you for 10 years. I have never seen you smile. You know why you’re not smiling? Because you know you’re not telling the truth. You’re a very dishonest organisation and they should be ashamed of you."
However, this is not the first time Trump has berated journalists.
Previous incidents with reporters
President Trump has repeatedly attacked journalists during press interactions. These incidents have often involved personal insults during questions related to the Epstein files, Jamal Khashoggi, and immigration coverage.
On November 14, 2025, Trump called Bloomberg News reporter Catherine Lucey “Quiet, piggy" when she asked a follow-up question about newly released Jeffrey Epstein emails mentioning Trump.
On November 18, 2025, Trump grew frustrated with ABC News reporter Mary Bruce during an Oval Office interaction with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Bruce had questioned Trump about family business ties to Saudi Arabia, the CIA’s assessment of Mohammed bin Salman’s role in Jamal Khashoggi’s 2018 murder, and newly released Epstein files.
Earlier, Trump has threatened to revoke licences of media organisations, including ABC, filed lawsuits against outlets, and labelled several organisations as “fake news". The White House Press Corps and the Press Club have also condemned these actions as assaults on the free press.
