Wresting legend Hulk Hogan, who strongly supported US President-elect Donald Trump, suggested he may get a role in the Trump 2.0 cabinet. Hogan told Fox News that the President-elect seemed open to the idea of him serving in Trump’s second term during an encounter last month.
Trump’s cabinet choices of billionaires, MAGA firebrands and outsider political figures that includes the likes of Pete Hegseth, Matt Gaetz (now withdrawn) and Linda McMahon have already sparked controversy. Hogan’s inclusion was be the latest in what many perceive as a chaotic inclusion.
According to The Hill, Hogan recalled a conversation with Trump at his Madison Square Garden rally in New York, where he said, “My president said, ‘You know something, you’d be great to run the President’s Council on Physical Fitness’."
The President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition is a federal advisory committee that aims to promote healthy eating and physical activity for all people. US President Joe Biden renewed the council till September 30, 2025. There has been no official comment from the Trump campaign on Hogan’s inclusion.
‘We Talked About Nutrition, Physical Fitness’
Hogan said he and Trump discussed nutrition and physical fitness, and also about US Health Secretary appointee Robert F Kennedy Jr. " was talking about nutrition, and how many foreign countries won’t even let their people eat the food that we eat here in America. It’s so bad, and it’s poisoned a generation of kids. And at the end of the day, we start talking about physical fitness," he told Fox News.
Trump’s nomination of RFK has shocked public health experts, who worry he could meddle with key government agencies, amplify anti-vaccine sentiments and direct agency funding to suit his personal views.
Hulk Hogan became a crowd favourite at the Republican Convention (RNC) as he dramatically tore off his shirt off to announce his support of Trump. The 70-year-old legend, whose real name is Terry G Bollea, called Trump his “hero" and “gladiator" and said he would bring America back together.
Meanwhile, Jay Bhattacharya, a Kolkata-born economist and Stanford University-trained physician is the presumptive favourite of Trump for the next director of the Institutes of Health (NIH), according to multiple media reports. Bhattacharya called on Robert F. Kennedy Jr and impressed him with his ideas to overhaul the NIH, according to The Washington Post.
