Eric Trump, the son of US President Donald Trump, has stirred a buzz over another presidency from the family once his father’s potential second term concludes.
Speaking to The Financial Times, he mentioned that the decision regarding the same hinges not on political feasibility but on whether the Trumps are willing to endure the intense scrutiny of public office again.
“The real question is: ‘Do you want to drag other members of your family into it?… Would I want my kids to live the same experience over the last decade that I’ve lived?’" Eric said.
“You know, if the answer was yes, I think the political path would be an easy one, meaning, I think I could do it. And by the way, I think other members of our family could do it too," he added.
Eric further responded to if this year’s election would mark the final presidential bid featuring a Trump, he said,"I don’t know … Time will tell. But there are more people than just me."
Responding to criticism about the Trump family allegedly capitalising on their political influence for financial gain, he firmly rejected the accusations, stating, “If there’s one family that hasn’t profited off politics, it’s the Trump family."
“In fact, I would sit there and say that we [would have] had many more zeros behind our name had my father not run in the first place. The opportunity cost, the legal cost, and the toll it’s taken on our family have been astronomical," he stated.
Eric Trump is the third child of US President Donald Trump and his first wife, Ivana Trump. Born on January 6, 1984, Eric is a businessman and executive vice president of the Trump Organisation. He has been actively involved in the family business, particularly in overseeing winery operations and international real estate ventures.
