Axiom-4 Mission: Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, one of the astronauts selected under India’s Gaganyaan program, is set to launch into space today after several delays due to bad weather and technical glitches.
As part of the Axiom-4 mission to the Space Station (ISS), Shukla along with three other astronauts, will lift-off from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre in Florida onboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket at 2:31 am EDT (12 noon IST).
As he prepares to embark on the historic journey to the Space Station (ISS), he shared a heartfelt note for his wife, Kamna Shukla, expressing gratitude for her unwavering support throughout his journey.
Shubhanshu Shukla’s Note For Wife
In a heartfelt note, the Group Captain expressed gratitude to those involved in the mission and paid a special tribute to the people who stood by him—especially his wife.
The message was accompanied by a touching photograph showing the couple sharing a quiet goodbye through a glass wall.

“As we plan to leave the planet early morning of 25 Jun, I wish to thank everyone who has been involved in this mission for their support and also to all the people back home for their blessings and love. A big thank you to family and friends who have been my bedrock in this journey. Sometimes your close ones make sacrifices that you do not even fully understand but they do so out of their love for you," he said in a post on Instagram.
He further thanked his wife for her unwavering support throughout his journey saying that without her it was not possible but more importantly none of this would matter.
“Special thanks to @kamnashubha for being the wonderful partner that you are. Without you none of this was possible but more importantly none of this would matter. No one travels to space alone.. we do so on the shoulders of so many more. I feel grateful to each and every one of you. THANK YOU," he concluded.
Axiom-4 Mission
The Axiom-4 (Ax-4) mission is the fourth private astronaut expedition to the Space Station. It launches from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, aboard a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft, propelled by a Falcon 9 rocket.

The mission is led by former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, now with Axiom Space, serving as commander. The international crew includes Slawosz Uznanski from Poland (European Space Agency) and Tibor Kapu from Hungary, both serving as mission specialists. Group Captain Shukla joins them as the mission’s pilot — a role of high responsibility and precision.
