A woman and two dogs she was walking have died after a road traffic accident in the Scottish Highlands.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the B9152 near the Granish junction, close to Aviemore, at about 9.45pm on Friday.

Police said the 40-year-old woman had just left Aviemore and was walking with her two “husky-type” dogs when the crash, which involved a grey Peugeot 207, happened.

She and her two dogs died at the scene. The 20-year-old male driver of the car was not injured. The road was closed overnight after the crash, and reopened at 8am on Saturday.

Sgt Calum MacAulay of Police Scotland said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the crash or either the car or the lady prior to the incident.

“We believe the lady had been in Aviemore just before and had been walking with her two husky-type dogs at that time.

“If you were driving in the area near where the crash took place and have any dashcam footage of the woman or the car, then please contact police.”

Police Scotland can be contacted by phoning 101.
