The social media platform X, owned by tech billionaire Elon Musk, found itself at the center of controversy once again after suspending the account of Celtic punk rock band Dropkick Murphys. The move came just a day after the band's lead singer, Ken Casey, labeled a MAGA hat as the "Elon Musk True Nazi edition."
The band on Sunday was performing in Boston's Fenway Park stadium. During the concert, a fan held up a "Make America Great Again" cap. Ken Casey called out the fan during the concert, stating, “If you’re in a room full of people and you want to know who’s in a cultThey’ve been holding up a f***ing hat the whole night to represent a president.”
The fan was wearing a black MAGA hat, similar to the one worn by Elon Musk during Trump's presidential campaign last year. Casey went on to say that the hat as the “Elon Musk True Nazi edition."
Moreover, the singer demanded the fan stop displaying the hat. "Do you mind, sir, we’re going to play a song about our grandparents and people who fought Nazis in the warso if you could just shut the f**k up for five minutes."
On Monday, X suspended the account without any explanation. When users search for Dropkick Murphys on X, the page shows that the account "violated" the platform's rules.
