Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, alleging that it is compromising the youth of the state by “inviting" illegal immigrants.
Without naming her, Modi took a jibe at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s petition against the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in her state.
Responding to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha, he said while countries around the world are making efforts to expel illegal immigrants, there are those who defend them in court.
“You appear in court in defence of illegal immigrants, who are taking away the rights and jobs of your own people," Modi said.
He said the Congress, TMC, and Left parties have been in power for years, but they only filled their own coffers and did not work for the people.
