'You Became The CM When...': Nitish Kumar Spars With Rabri Devi In Bihar Legislative Council

The Bihar Legislative Council on Thursday witnessed a ruckus after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD MLC Rabri Devi had a spar during the proceedings.

As the house proceedings began, the opposition MLCs stood up and raised the issue of rising crime in the state. The opposition members reached the well of the house creating a ruckus. They even started sloganeering against the government.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister stood up and tried to calm down the opposition MLCs.

He said, “I request you all to sit down. If someone has been murdered somewhere, then it will definitely be investigated. We will ask about it today itself."

Pointing towards former CM Rabri Devi, Kumar took a swipe and said that it was her husband’s (Lalu Prasad Yadav’s) government and later she was made to sit.

“What was the situation when her husband was in power? No work was done in Bihar. If any incident has happened, then there will be an investigation. When her husband was in power, was any investigation done? Was any work done?" he said.

Kumar further hit out at RJD and Rabri Devi saying that she was made the CM when her husband was removed. He also accused the RJD of igniting fights between Hindus and Muslims.

“There used to be so much fighting between Hindus and Muslims. We have done all the work. There is no point in saying all this. All the work was done after I came. These people just want publicity. These people have not done any work. There used to be only fighting between Hindus and Muslims. What did you become the CM for? You became the CM when your husband was removed," he said.

Rabri Devi also hit back at Nitish Kumar. She said, ‘Incidents of murder, rape, theft happen every day. Such incidents are happening all over Bihar. These people cannot handle law and order. How many murders happened on Holi too. The government does not listen to anyone. The government is running only on paper. There is jungle raj in Bihar.’

Rabri Devi further targeted Ashok Chaudhary and accused him of taking ransom. She said, ‘Ashok Chaudhary first looted in Congress and now he is looting in JDU.’

After a huge uproar in the House, the Speaker ordered the opposition members to go out till the first session.

Earlier today, CM Nitish criticised an opposition MLA for bringing a mobile phone inside the assembly, asserting that the excessive use of electronic gadgets could “destroy the Earth in 10 years".

Kumar’s comments came during the Question Hour when RJD’s Suday Yadav took out his phone to look for facts and figures in support of his submission.

The JD(U) supremo turned towards Speaker Nand Kishor Yadav and said: “When mobile phones are not allowed inside the House, how is this member carrying his handset with him? You must ensure that whoever enters the House with his phone, is made to leave".
