Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the delay in the election of its national president, saying, “The party that calls itself the world’s largest party has not yet been able to choose its national president."
However, Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah was quick in responding to Akhilesh Yadav’s jibe. In response to the SP chief’s cutting remark, Shah launched a barb at the Opposition parties, accusing them of promoting the agenda of family first.
Reasoning why there has been a delay in the selection of the BJP president, the Union Home Minister stood smilingly in Lok Sabha and said, “All the parties in front of me (Opposition), their national president, is chosen by only five family members."
“But, we have to choose one from the 12-13 crore members of the Bharatiya Janata Party after a process, and that takes time," he added.
Shah further, in a fun way, pointed towards the SP president Akhilesh Yadav and said, “In your case, it will not take much time. I am saying that you will remain president for the next 25 years." To this, Akhilesh Yadav was also seen smiling.
