Apple launched the new M3-series Mac lineup to push sales for its product but the craze for AI is going to push the company into making another upgrade.

Apple is going for a quick Mac refresh later this year when the new M4 series silicone will be announced. Reports say Apple is ready to power the entire Mac lineup with the upcoming M4 processor that not only will offer performance gains but also introduce AI features for Mac users.

The Bloomberg report claims Apple is close to finalising the production of the M4 processor that will be used to refresh all the models in the Mac lineup, the report quotes people saying. It is interesting to see Apple quickly go about the overhauling, especially since the M3-powered Macs came out less than six months back.

Having said that, AI is going to be a core part of Apple’s future devices and ecosystem, and it seems the M4 silicone will be best equipped to handle those tasks. But what does that mean for people who got the M3-powered Macs in the last few months, don’t they get any of the new upcoming AI features?

We’re hoping Apple gives these answers and also highlights the AI aspect of iOS, macOS and iPadOS later in June at the latest edition of WWDC 2024 keynote from the company. In the meanwhile, Apple is likely to push for these upgrades as the M3 lineup didn’t exactly bring a big gain over the M2 series. This means, the company is ready to put all the eggs in the M4 basket, and for that, we could see new iMacs, new MacBook Pros (both 14 and 16-inches) along with the Mac Minis getting the M4-series upgrade later this year.

The Mac sales have dropped in the last few quarters which suggests the regular Mac upgrades aren’t clearly enticing people to buy the new models, and some of that could be because of the continued increase in prices of these Macs.

Apple has also introduced the all-new 15-inch MacBook Air M3 processor recently, and it seems, the company is not ready to push the M4 silicone to its Air lineup just yet. We’ll know everything about Apple’s AI plans at the WWDC 2024 in June, and before that, we might see the company announce the new iPad Pro and Air lineup next month.
